Importance of a goal

Earl Nightingale once said, “Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal.” He then went on to say that the problem we have in society is that we don’t know where we are headed. In “The Strangest Secret” he talked about how “The opposite of courage is not cowardness; it’s conformity.”

Given that 90 something percent of society don’t actually think about what they’re doing, don’t think about whether what they’re doing is serving them or not and they always seem to be following one another, chances are, you, too, are surrounded by them.

Why do we need goals in life? You may even think that it’s too late for you to be having a goal right now in your 50’s or 60’s or even 70’s. The thing is… if you’re still alive right now, it’s not too late to have a goal and work towards that. It’s only too late when you’re gone. As long as you’re still breathing and living your day to day life, you have the opportunity to create the day to day life that you really want, whilst serving others here on earth.

Some people may say, “I don’t know what I want.” To me, that’s equivalent to saying, “This is all too hard and I just don’t want to do it.” It’s nothing but an excuse to not change your paradigms nor change your existing programming. I don’t have a problem with not having a goal, so long as you don’t complain that life is treating you unfairly. If you are complaining, yet you don’t want to do anything about reaching your goal, then I’d say you’re coming up with excuses because you don’t want to take responsibility of your own life. It’s that simple.

We are all responsible for the life that we are living in. Each and every one of us. If we aren’t getting the result that we want, we are all born with the ability to be able to change that situation. We are all born with the freewill to live the life that we want (or unknowingly, the life that we don’t want).

Truth is, we are all born with a life purpose.

Our true purpose is to grow, push our own boundaries and live in the freedom that we are all born into. So, what gives you greatest joy in life? What are you passionate about? That will be your driver in this lifetime to move forward towards the expansion that you seek.

For those who don’t live out their life purpose, something always seem to come their way to try to get their attention on the physical level. This may be in the form of conversations, radio or tv interviews and discussions… anything that may catch a person’s attention. The trouble is that most people aren’t even aware of their surroundings because they have been so focused on looking for what they don’t want rather than what they do want. Remember that 90 something percent of society aren’t actually thinking or heading in the direction that they want to live… this translates into us being programmed into ignoring the messages that we receive most of the time.

Usually, if “all else fails” the last resort for us to start waking up and paying attention in our life is through an “incurable disease” of some form or another. Because it is then that we really stop our endless rationalisation and negative chit chat to actually start paying attention to what we do want, rather than what we don’t want.

So, what is it that you want?

What is your goal?

Do you know where you’re headed towards?

Are you getting to your goal because you really want to and you have a strong desire to get there? Or is it because you’re doing what someone else expects of you?

Life is really about living from the inside out. It’s about creating what you really want, rather than what you’ve been told that you should want. Because if you have a goal, and your reasoning is because it’s an expectation of you, you are will neither be living a life of joy, nor a life of freedom or experience the true meaning of expansion of your soul’s true purpose.
